Zackery Belanger’s experience has been defined by deep immersions into different areas of study, for long periods of time, and the tumultuous act of shifting between them. The most substantial so far have been an education in physics, practice in architectural acoustics, and experimental design work. His willingness to uproot has produced some singular paths, such as being a member of the design team for Rensselaer’s EMPAC, and then occupying the completed building to rethink our relationship between architecture and acoustics.
Recently his path has begun yielding to more intentional artwork and ideas that expand well beyond acoustics and architecture. Another shift, and maybe an unsurprising destination.
